Welcome to St Mary's Church

St Mary's open for private prayer from 23rd June 2020

In accordance with Church of England guidance, from Tuesday 23rd June 2020 St Mary’s will be open on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for individual private prayer, subject to a range of precautions, which will be explained by a church member on duty, including the use of hand sanitiser, a one-way system in the church and a register of people attending in case infection tracing becomes necessary.

You may have seen recent press and media announcements about the opening of churches for worship. However each church has to work to implement the public health guidance with reference to COVID 19. We are working to enable the church to open safely for public worship and when that's possible we will publish information about our services.

However, a church is not just a building – it is also the people who meet there to worship. The church is a whole network of people still serving the community, keeping in touch with the elderly and vulnerable, praying, meeting (on line) and now worshipping through broadcast services.

Our priest-in-charge – the Reverend Olwen Woolcock, is working at building those connections both with the church community and with the wider community. Her contact details are on the “Who’s Who?” page of this web site, and there is a link to the blog for on-line Sunday services on the “Benefice on line NOW” page. Please feel able to get in touch with Olwen about any queries.

All enquiries about funerals, weddings and baptisms should be made to the priest-in-charge.
